0.9.1 released!
This release add some features, fix a lot of bugs, and also some security
issues, so all users of CiberTienda 0.9 are encouraged to update to this
version.

0.9 is out!. This is the first version released as Open Source Software.

Banesto releases CiberTienda, a complete virtual shopping system under GPL.
Banesto, the most technologicaly advanced bank in Spain, releases CiberTienda,
under the GNU General Public License. CiberTienda is a software that allow to
set up easily a WWW virtual store in the style of amazon. Now CiberTienda is
100% open source software, and anyone can use or modify it under the terms of
the GPL. This software, combined with apache, Open-SSL, and Linux is the first
open source bussines solution. Banesto has signed an agreement with Onírica, a
Spanish company devoted to open-source and internet to lead the development of
the project in the same style of other Open Source projects like apache, mozilla
or Linux.

EXPO-LINUX PRESENTATION:
Yesterday, 14 March, the Cibertienda project was presented at
EXPO-LINUX 2000, the first Congress and
Exhibition on GNU/LINUX to be held in Spain.
At a round table conference on the Advantages of the development of GNU/Linux,
Cibertienda was presented as a practical example of an open-source application
of e-commerce.
The origins, motivations and objectives of the project were explained. The
creation process of the project was described along with www.cibertienda.org and
the support provided by Banesto to the internet users community, making it
possible for its Virtual-Post to be downloaded from the web in order to
facilitate a complete e-commerce solution, which includes secure on-line credit
card payment. Finally, the participation obtained in the present month was
commented on, and all possible kinds of collaboration by the virtual community
were requested: for the improvement, translation and introduction of the first
Spanish shopping cart sw, which Onírica, a firm with experience in developments
for Internet and Linux, has helped to launch as an open code.
We hope that the warm welcome given to the project at this event will soon
result in specific collaboration and in cibertiendas being produced, so that
this open-source solution can become a standard fact of virtual store sw's,
owned by the community and not by any trademark.
